- Shariah Laws relating to business contracts
- Arab custom of diyat (blood money)

Relook at conventional insurance
- Concept of risk and insurance
- Insurance as one of the techniques of risk control
- History of insurance including Islam's contribution to its development
- Comparison between mutual and proprietary companies
Session 3
Conventional Insurance from the perspective of
Muslims
- Common view of the ordinary Muslims
- View of the certain Islamic Scholars
- Elements of Gharar, Maisir and Riba in the conventional insurance contracts
- Differences and similarities between insurance and gambling
Session 4
Basic Principles and Practice of Takaful
- Overcoming the objectionable elements
- Concepts of Tabarru and Mudharabah
- Concepts based on solidarity and brotherhood
- Operation of certain takaful products
