Presentation 1: Building a Sustainable Fire Risks Corporate Culture

Overview:
Learn the latest practical approach in fire risk assessment and management in building a sustainable and resilient corporate culture.

Completed and occupied commercial buildings are source of business and revenue. Initial capital investment coupled with human resources generates revenue to support growth of a corporate. While new buildings complying with the fire safety requirements of building regulations, Code and Standards, they are void of interior furnishings and fire hazards until they are occupied. After the building is completed and approved for occupancy, the building owners will decorate it with interior finishes. This often leads to introduction of large amount of combustible finishings and finishes which are not being regulated. The built-up of potential fire risk and hazard increase over time and with expansion, renovation, and changes of building interior layouts. The fire risk, if not identified, assessed and mitigated, could lead to major fire that could disrupt business, incur losses, and implicate in potential legal case due to commercial commitments. A disaster should it happen, could mean loss of market share, loss of production or service, loss of stock value and loss of goodwill for the corporate.

This paper will give insights into these risks based on case studies, a holistic approach in life safety and property protection in achieving a sustainable and building a resilient fire risk corporate culture.
