Overview
In this course, participants will be introduced to the concept of insurance, and focus on the structure and components of insurance. Participants will also learn about the major General Insurance products available in the market.

Key Learning Outcome:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the history of insurance.
  • Define the basic concept of risk, risk management, insurance and reinsurance.
  • Outline the basic principles of insurance and its application.
  • Relate insurance laws and contracts in the insurance environment.
  • Recognize the insurance policy format and other relevant documentations.
  • Classify the various General Insurance products in the market.

Karren Tan is an innovative and knowledgeable professional having more than 40 years of experience. She is a familiar face, having conducted many MII public and in-house programmes in Marine Cargo, Fire and Business Interruption and other areas of general insurance.

In her current capacity, Karren is proficient in developing new lessons and activities to expand learning opportunities, leveraging her knowledge of the subject and practical knowledge locally and internationally. Karren is one of the few individuals who can proficiently provide conceptual knowledge to help participants understand better.

Karren enjoys participating in related professional community committees and extra-curricular activities in her free time.
