Introduction to Marine Insurance
  • Why it is call a marine adventure?
  • Brief overview of marine insurance history and it’s development
  • International and Malaysian trade practices
Session 2
The basic principles relating to marine cargo insurance including implied/express warranty

Session 3
Introduction to various types of marine cargo policy including brief overview of basis of valuation and insurance on duty

Session 4
Brief overview on the purpose of Incoterms 2010 and Sales Contract

Session 5
Introduction to revised Institute Cargo Clauses A, B and C
  • Basic coverage and exclusion
  • Comparison between the clauses
  • Duration of cover (Transit Clause)
Session 6
Introduction to the basic cargo risk assessment
  • How to interpret information and underwriting the risk
Session 7
Introduction to claim process and procedure
  • The importance of original claim documents
  • Red Clause or Importance Notice

Ashok Kumar is an Associate of Australian Insurance Institute (AII). He has more than 40 years of experience in handling all classes of general insurance lines.

His specialization is marine insurance and insurance training, and regularly provides training to MII participants.

Ashok is currently a General Manager at a leading reinsurance broking company.
