The MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND, a fund established by MNRB Holdings Berhad, a company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), in collaboration with THE MALAYSIAN INSURANCE INSTITUTE (MII), invites suitably qualified staff of insurance companies in Malaysia (including Brokers, Adjusters and Insurance Associations) to apply for Scholarships to pursue MII’s Professional Programmes in Insurance, namely the:

 ASSOCIATESHIP OF THE MALAYSIAN INSURANCE INSTITUTE (AMII) – Level 1
 ASSOCIATESHIP OF THE MALAYSIAN INSURANCE INSTITUTE (AMII) – Level 2

ABOUT THE AMII LEVEL1 AND LEVEL 2

The Associateship of The Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) is an exclusive professional qualification programme tailored to the needs of the insurance industry and industry professionals.

The AMII qualification is internationally recognized and is viewed as a preferred requirement for career progression and leadership positions within the insurance industry. As an MII flagship programme, it is the only accredited professional programme customised for the local insurance industry and is the favoured programme by insurance companies and professionals in the ASEAN region.

The programme provides individuals with the necessary technical knowledge and practical skills at an operational level, as well as equip those who are looking to build a career in a technical, supervisory or managerial role.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

  • The scholarship is open to qualified staff of insurance companies in Malaysia
    including Brokers, Adjusters and Insurance Associations.
  • The scholarship for AMII Level 1 and Level 2 are open to new students.
  • All scholarship recipients must fulfil the minimum entry requirement listed below.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENT TO AMII LEVEL 1

  1. Passed STPM/A-Level or higher qualification which is recognized by the Malaysian Government or from a recognised Professional Body;

    OR
  2. Passed the Certificate of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (CMII) from The Malaysian Insurance Institute;

    OR
  3. Passed the Certificate in Insurance from The Chartered Insurance Institute, United Kingdom.
Note:
  • Students with a recognised qualification in the relevant field will be given credit exemptions based on past results and portfolio review (where applicable).
  • Any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
  • MII’s selection committee reserves the right to accept or reject any application.

SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE

  • The proposed scholarship will cover the following:
    • 50% of programme fee which includes tuition fee, examination fee and study text.
    • Full fee of a one-time student registration fee.
    • Full fee of a one-time MII membership joining fee.
    • Full MII annual membership fee.
Note: The remaining 50% of the programme fee is to be borne by the student or the employer of the student.
  • The Tuition Fee for year 2021 is estimated at:
    • AMII Level 1 – RM3,500 per student / per annum for four (4) subjects
    • AMII level 2 – RM4,240 per student / per annum for four (4) subjects

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Syllabus and Assessment Structure

The AMII programme constitutes an enhanced syllabus of local content and practices, as well as assessments that consists of coursework (assignment and tests – 40%), case studies and final examination (60%) that tests the application of both academic and on the-job experience.

Class Intake:

  • February Class intake – Final examination in May
  • June Class intake – Final examination session in September
  • October Class intake – Final examination in January
Completion Requirement
  • Students are required to complete AMII Level 1 (18 credits / 6 subjects) before enrolling for AMII Level 2.
  • Students are required to complete AMII Level 2 (32 credits / 8 subjects) to fulfil the AMII completion requirement..
  • Students must meet the completion eligibility criteria at the time of completion of the AMII
  • A total of 50 credits are required to complete AMII Level 1 and Level 2.

ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR LEARNING / SUBJECT EXEMPTION

  • Subject exemption may be awarded for prior learning (qualification related) by applying the exemption for the related subject(s) with the necessary supporting documents.
  • 3 credits per subject for AMII Level 1 and 4 credits per subject for AMII Level 2 may be awarded if it complies with the exemption requirements.

ACCREDITATION / RECOGNITION

  • AMII is accredited by The Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA).
  • AMII is recognised by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK whereby a student is able to obtain a maximum of 210 credits from AMII to be applied towards the CII qualification (depending on the terms and conditions of the CII qualification framework).
  • AMII is also recognised by The Australian New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).  AMII graduates who have :
    • completed the Associateship of Malaysian Insurance Institute Level 1 is eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Associate membership.
    • completed the Associateship of Malaysian Insurance Institute Level 2 is eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Senior Associate membership.
    • attained the Fellowship of Malaysian Insurance Institute and have been an ANZIIF CIP member for two consecutive years will be eligible to apply for the ANZIIF Fellow membership.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES

  • Application for this scholarship must be approved by the CEO of the company.
  • Only short listed candidates will be required to undergo an assessment and interview session with MII.
  • Short listed candidates will be notified via email.
